Hundreds of hill tribe people to offer funeral flowers for late King

CHIANG MAI, Oct 17 (TNA) – More than 400 Hmong ethnic people will travel on foot from their villages on mountaintop to offer sandalwood cremation flowers as final tributes to the beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the Royal Cremation Day. Doi Pui village head said Hmong ethnic people will walk 30 kilometres from their villages to the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, where the sandalwood flower laying ceremony will take place on Oct 26. He said hill tribe people are grateful for His Majesty late King, who visited their villages 14 times and developed the mountainous area for them to grow substitute crops instead of opium. They are now have sustainable income from farming and will preserve the forest to fulfill the royal wish. Public health teams will be on standby along the route as there will be also children and the elderly in the journey to attend the ceremony in the provincial seat. (TNA)
