ICC Chairman wins prestigious award

Napoli, May 4 (BNA): Isa Culture Centre (ICC) Board of Trustees Chairman, King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence Chairman Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa has received the Mediterranean Award of Culture and Peace 2018, in recognition of his efforts to bolster the concept of culture diplomacy. Dr. Khalid was presented with the award during a ceremony hosted by the Mediterranean Foundation in Napoli and attended by diplomats, thinkers as well as cultural and political personalities from different countries. Addressing the event, Dr. Khalid paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa who launched the Isa Cultural Centre in 2008 to stand as a beacon of culture and civilization and a symbol of Bahrain’s openness, enlightenment and progress, tolerance and peaceful co-existence. He stressed the importance of the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence, which sends a message reflecting Bahrain’s past and future and epitomizing the spirit of peaceful co-existence and effective dialogue. He dedicated the award to HM the King who advocates the values and principles of co-existence, tolerance and peace in the Kingdom of Bahrain, following thus in the steps of fathers and forefathers. He also dedicated the award to the people of Bahrain, the ambassadors of peace in the world, who set a remarkable role model for human evolution, openness on cultures and dedication to impart peace. The foundation issued a statement hailing Dr. Shaikh Khalid as one of the prominent personalities who believe firmly in the cause of peace, the necessity of building bridges between people and the renunciation of bigotry. The prestigious award has been conferred to prominent personalities, including former French President Nicholas Sarkozy, late Jordanian monarch King Al-Hussein bin Talal, late King Hassan II of Morocco, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
