Ice cakes served on giant panda’s birthday

CHIANG MAI, Sept 28 (TNA) -- The management of the Chiang Mai Zoo served ice cakes with frozen fruits to two giant pandas on the 17th birthday anniversary of one of them. Apart from zoo staff, local and foreign fans gathered at the zoo to celebrate the birthday of female giant panda Lin Hui. The female giant panda received a colorful ice cake decorated with fruits and vegetables to satisfy its hunger. Besides, favorite foods were put in a gift box presented to Lin Hui. Zoo staff hoped the box would be beneficial to the giant panda’s emotions and behaviors. On the same occasion, a similar ice cake was served to male giant panda Chuang Chuang aged 18. The Chinese government lent both giant pandas to the Chiang Mai Zoo on Oct 12, 2003, to boost bilateral ties. The animals have stayed at the zoo for nearly 15 years and are healthy. Zoo staff will try another round of artificial insemination on the giant pandas in their next breeding season between January and May next year. (TNA)
