"HRH the Premier has thus become the first world leader to win the award", said IFTDO Executive Council Chairman Nasser Al-Nafisee as he addressed the opening of the 45th IFTDO conference, which opened in Bahrain under the patronage of HRH the Premier.
The Excellence in Leadership Award-2016 recognizes HRH the Premier’s dedicated role in spearheading Bahrain’s human rights development and bolstering its standing in international human development reports.
Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa attended, on behalf of HRH the Premier, the opening of the conference, being held at Crowne Plaza under the theme "Lessons from Leaders".
He congratulated HRH the Premier on winning the award in recognition of his remarkable efforts and outstanding leadership in initiating human resources development in Bahrain.
He thanked the Premier for deputizing him to open the conference, hailing his far-sightedness and firm belief in the importance of encouraging decision-making.
"HRH the Premier is a unique school of dedication and a source of inspiration for leadership, management and wisdom", he said, hailing Bahrain’s success stories which represent the fruit of the Government’s adopted policy.
"The Government Action Plan (GAP 2015-2018) focuses on promoting the performance of the public service workforce towards assuming leadership positions", he said.
He stressed the Government’s firm resolve to continue investing in human resources, Bahrain’s real asset, despite financial difficulties facing countries in the region due to plummeting oil prices.
The Deputy Premier said that efforts would be intensified to enhance the standard of the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), which constitutes a national expertise powerhouse and a factory for government leaders.
The Deputy Premier commended the role of the Bahrain Society for Training and Development (BSTD) which hosted the IFTDO conference, in the presence of 700 participants, apart from keynote Arab and international speakers.
