Indians in Thailand pay respects to late monarch
BANGKOK, October 21 (TNA) - A large crowd of Indian nationals living in Thailand have gathered at the Thai-Indian Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok to pay their respects to late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The ceremony, organised by the Indian-Thai Chamber of Commerce on October 20, was presided over by the Indian Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Bhagwant Sigh Bishnoi and attended by over 200 people, including staff members of the Indian Embassy to Thailand and the Thai-Indian Chamber of Commerce, as well as Indian citizens living in Thailand.
Thursday's ceremony began with a prayers session and a 2-minute silence to pay tribute to the late and revered Thai King, after which the Indian top envoy paid his respect to the late and beloved Thai monarch and led a prayers session for six religions of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Sikhism.
The Indian ambassador told reporters that the Indian people would like to pay their last respects to late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, saying that he believes the Indian nationals are feeling the same grief as the Thai people, as Indians have lived in Thailand for a long time under late His Majesty's kindness and hospitality, making all of them feel closely attached to late His Majesty and the Thai people.
The ambassador stressed that India will continue fostering strong ties with Thailand. (TNA)
