Indonesia Won't Interfere In Probe Into Fatal Shooting Of Its Nationals
KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian government has left it to
the Malaysian authority to investigate and prepare a report pertaining to the
incident where three Indonesian nationals were shot dead during a robbery in
Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan state, last March.
Acting Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Mulya Wirana said Jakarta would
neither interfere nor trying to influence the investigation results as they
believed that Kuala Lumpur would handle the case in a transparent manner.
"We are not trying to find faults, we just want to get justice done and we
believe that Wisma Putra, Attorney-General's Chambers and the Royal Malaysian
Police are open in handling the case."
He said this after accompanying seven members of Indonesian District
Legislative Assembly, led by its Accountability Committee chief Prof Dr Farouk
Muhammad, who paid a courtesy call on Senate President Abu Zahar Ujang
here Wednesday.
In the incident on March 24, the robbers were shot dead after they attacked
the policemen who arrived at the scene after receiving the distress call about
the robbery.
Meanwhile, Dr Farouk said the one hour call on Abu Zahar was aimed, among
others, at getting Malaysia's cooperation and explanation on the incident,
including the reasons for the shots fired by the police.
He said the victim's family, as well as the Indonesian public and government
were hoping that the case would be resolved soon.
"At the same time, we are also hoping that a more secured protection can be
provided for Indonesian workers in Malaysia," he said.
