Indonesian Ambassador Unveils Photography Book in Tehran
Jakarta, June 17 (Antara) - Indonesian Ambassador to Iran Dian Wirengjurit has recently launched a photography book titled "Iran: Lovely People" in Tehran, according to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, Iran, received by Antara here, Wednesday.
"In addition to strengthening political and economic relations with the countries of accreditation, the diplomats also need to pay attention to improving cultural diplomacy especially, people-to-people contact", the ambassador stated.
The photographs in the book shed light on the lives of the Iranian people residing in rural areas and reflect the values of simplicity, honesty, friendship, and the struggles of life.
The images of rural communities have been deliberately chosen, as the atmosphere and activities in the urban communities have been revealed in the media. "While the people in rural areas are still underrepresented," Wirengjurit pointed out.
"Through photography, I can be closer to the Iranian people from all classes, regardless of whether they work in urban areas and live in rural areas. Through this closeness, I want to introduce and promote Indonesia to the Iranians ", he added.
According to Wirengjurit, a book by a diplomat is the first of its kind to be launched in Iran.
"This book is special, as it is not about the state of the diplomat, but about the state where he serves," he affirmed.
Director General of the Iranian Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) for Asia Pacific Ali Mohammad Sadeqi welcomed the launch of the photography book and assessed that Ambassador Wirengjurit has managed to improve the cultural relations between Iran and Indonesia through photography in diplomacy.
"Cultural relationship and friendships last longer than political and economic relations," he emphasized.
Hirbodan Company Leader Saeid Marjuvi voluntarily expressed interest to publish the photography book.
"This book is about my country. It is an honor for me to see a foreign ambassador give attention to Iran and its people and express his appreciation for them through a photography book," he remarked.
