Industry Minister chairs Standardization and Metrology National Committee

Manama, Apr. 28 (BNA): Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani chaired the 54th National Committee Standardization and Metrology meeting. The meeting reviewed Resolution 27/2022 issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to restructure the National Committee for Standardization and Metrology. It assigned Customs Clearance Department Director Waleed Yousif Ajoor Vice Chairman of the Committee, according to Article No. 4 of the Standards and Metrology Law. The meeting reviewed several technical regulations and related decisions, as follows: - Technical regulation for biodegradable plastic products. - Technical requirements for liquefied gas cylinders transport vehicles. - The national technical regulation for the requirements of reinforcing steel (carbon steel bars). - The decision to ban bottled water bottles with volumes less than 200 milliliters in the Bahraini market. - Gulf Technical Regulations for Electric Vehicles. - Technical regulation for electronic nicotine products. - The decision to ban single-use plastic bags with a thickness of less than 35 microns in the Bahraini market. The Gulf indicative guide for product safety and market survey was further adopted in commitments of the Kingdom to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
