Industry Minister participates in tourism expo in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv, Mar. 29 (BNA): Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister and the Board of Directors Chairman of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani, today participated in the opening ceremony of the International Mediterranean Tourism Market 2022 (IMTM) in Israel, which is considered one of the largest of its kind in the Middle East. Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, and Tourism Minister, Yoel Razvozov, in addition to senior officials from the State of Israel and abroad attended the opening ceremony. The Industry Minister toured the expo in which about 40 countries are participating to highlight their tourism sector, tourist landmarks and travel offers. Representatives of exhibition centres, hotels, spas, golf courses, cruise lines, car rental companies, airlines, tour operators and destination management companies also took part in the event. The minister affirmed the importance of IMTM in showcasing the latest developments in the global tourism industry, noting that it focuses on uses of technology and environmental dimensions in tourism. He said that the great participation in the expo indicates the ongoing recovery of the tourism sector in the region and the world, stressing that BTEA is keen to participate in such events to enhance its partnership with various operators in the region and the world, as well as promote the kingdom’s tourism sector, and achieve the goals of its 2022-2026 tourism strategy. Minister Al-Zayani held several meetings with the participants in the expo, and discussed with them ways to enhance Bahrain’s tourism cooperation with their countries. He also highlighted the kingdom’s tourist landmarks, such as the new Exhibition and Convention Centre, the Galali coasts and diving, in addition to the year-round entertainment and sports events hosted by Bahrain.
