Information Affairs Ministry takes part in GCC meeting

Riyadh, Mar. 6 (BNA): The Information Affairs Ministry has participated in the meeting of the Undersecretaries of GCC Information Ministers. The meeting was in preparation for the 24th meeting of GCC Information Ministers, to be held here on Tuesday. While participating in the preparatory meeting, Acting Director-General of the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Mohannad Al-Nuaimi has stressed the importance of enhancing media complementarity among GCC countries through launching joint projects for the best interests of GCC states and their peoples. "The GCC region is currently facing a great and unprecedented media challenge amid the revolution in information technology, social media and modern media, which requires more efforts by everyone in order to protect the region against the negative impacts and media threats that affect the overall situation in the region," Al-Nuaimi said. He called for the need to enhance cooperation in producing radio and television programmes that reflect the depth of the deep-rooted fraternal relations between GCC countries, and their development and civilisational achievements in order to face the biased media campaigns and raise social awareness on the importance of joint GCC achievements. This, he stressed, would achieve the goals of the joint media action strategy of GCC countries, he explained. The meeting discussed a number of issues pertaining to ways to enhance joint GCC media action. The participants also reviewed a number of memoranda presented by the GCC Secretariat-General and recommendations of the GCC technical committees. They then submitted their recommendations on them to the GCC Information Ministers meeting, to be held on Tuesday. The Information Ministry's delegation comprised BNA Acting Director-General Mohannad Suleiman Al-Nuaimi and the Bahrain Television Director Yussef Mohammed Ismail.
