Information Minister congratulates media laureate

Manama, May 9 (BNA): Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi congratulated Bahraini journalist and media figure Sawsan Al Shaer on winning the Arab Media Excellence Award in the television field which was granted to her today from the Arab League’s information and communication sector during the 49th regular session of the Arab Information Ministers Council in Cairo. The minister lauded the achievement brought about by Sawsan Al Shaer for her programme "Ala Masouliyati" (It’s My Responsibility) that is broadcast on Bahrain TV. He praised the prestigious Arab award granted to renowned Arab media and TV figures in tribute for their pioneering contribution to developing the Arab television media. He also pointed out that the honour coincides with marking the third Arab Media Day 2017/2018 which is observed under the theme "Television the Pulse of the Nation". Al Romaihi described the honour by the Arab League as a well-deserved coronation for Sawsan Al Shaer’s distinguished contributions and an accolade for her honourable national history in the press and media field as well as her enlightening role to promote political and social awareness. The award, he added, is also a recognition of her nationalistic stances and distinction in performing her professional duties competently and with dedication to defending the nation’s security, stability and progress. The Information Minister underlined the ministry’s pride in the accomplishments and creativity of Bahraini women in the press and media field. He also affirmed keenness on enabling them to assume their national role professionally and responsibly so as to further uphold the kingdom’s name in various regional and international gatherings and project its achievements in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
