Information Minister: This is Gulf Radio step towards Gulf Union

Manama, Mar 16 (BNA): Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi today received GCC officials of Radio and Technical Affairs on the sidelines of the 14th Gulf Radio and Television Festival.
Information Minister emphasized keenness on providing the necessary resources to officially start a high quality transmission of "This is the Arabian Gulf Radio Station" across the GCC countries from the Kingdom of Bahrain to convey its mission in reinforcing the bonds of Gulf brotherhood and citizenship, protecting its Arab identity, national achievements, as well as pushing its march towards Gulf Union.
The minister called on the GCC officials to discuss the technical and media-related instruments to officially launch the unified GCC radio station in conformity with the recommendations of the 24th GCC Information Ministers Conference held in Riyadh on activating the radio station.
He took pride in approaching the official launch date of This is the Arabian Gulf Radio Station, as a Bahraini initiative and an ambitious step to activate the march of the joint GCC media work on the road to Gulf Union.
He listened to efforts of cooperation and joint coordination on the identification of the radio frequencies and rebroadcasting them across GCC countries.
He stressed Bahrain's support for joint Gulf media projects, noting hosting Gulf Journalism Union headquarters in Manama, and Bahrain's promotion for the Gulf Radio Station production activities , including staging the 14th Gulf Radio, Television Festival, as well as its interest in unifying the Gulf media discourse in various forums.
He said that the This is the Arabian Gulf Radio Station targets bolstering the Gulf identity and disseminating values of tolerance and rejecting extremism and terrorism, which is a key initiative for the activation of the joint media work strategy as approved by GCC leaders.
Bahrain Radio Director Yunis Salman gave an overview of the Gulf Radio Station vision of raising awareness of the Gulf people of a unified and integrated Gulf region, pointing reaching a unified Gulf discourse, as well as highlighting the GCC accomplishments and identity.
The Gulf officials, at the end of their meeting, expressed appreciation of the information minister's warm hospitality and interest in boosting the joint Gulf media work.
