Information minister hails Bahrain’s F1 strides

Manama, Apr.7 (BNA): Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi hailed the hosting of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix for the 14th year, commending advanced organizational, logistic, security and media strides marking the race.
He made the statement as he visited the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) media center and radio studio, hailing the cooperation of the ministry and the National Communication Centre (NCC) with the BIC and other government departments to provide all media and technical facilities to local and foreign reporters.
He stressed the ministry’s keenness on providing comprehensive media coverage to promote the culture of motorsport, highlight events being held on the sidelines, hold live radio interviews with officials and F1 fans, in addition to airing news reports on Bahrain TV for the second year and covering the event on Bahrain News Agency (BNA) and the social media.
The minister commended the competent national media and technical cadres for following-up the developments and results of the F1 races on radio and TV channels and promoting the global sport culture during the three-day Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
He commended the success of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix over the past years, which brought the Kingdom of Bahrain in the limelight and consolidated its standing in world sport, tourism and media map and proved its credential in competing with other international racetracks.
He pointed out that Bahrain International Circuit(BIC), home of motorsport in the Middle East had been awarded the FIA prize of best race.
“Bahrain is reaping the dividends of the pioneering project ever since it was first launched in 2004, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier”, he said.
He highlighted the positive impact of the project on the sectors of aviation, transportation and tourism and crucial role in supporting development and spurring economic growth in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
