Information Minister honours prize winners

Manama, May 16 (BNA): Radio Bahrain news bulletin and "Manama Dialogue" talk show programme have clinched the second prize at the 17th Arab Radio and Television Festival. The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) organised the event on May 2-5, in partnership with Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat) and in cooperation with the Tunisian radio and television corporations. Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi honoured the winners who were awarded at the pan-Arab festival. He stressed the need to commit to transparency, responsibility and objectivity in expressing opinion and dealing with national issues and regional and international challenges. He underscored the importance of keeping abreast of latest professional and technical trends so as to enhance the media sector in Bahrain. Addressing the prize winners, he stressed keenness on pursuing development plans, honing the skills of the technical and media staff, upgrading the telecommunications and IT infrastructure, strengthening commitments to media conventions and consolidating cooperation with Arab radios and TVs. The ministry's staff thanked the minister for encouraging and motivating them to innovate and enhance the quality of radio and TV programmes and honour Bahrain in different regional and international arenas.
