Information Minister pays visit to Akhbar Al Khaleej

Manama, March 23 (BNA): Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi stressed keenness to boost partnership with the national press institutions in boosting political and democratic achievements and preserving hard-won gains brought about by the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Speaking during a visit to Akhbar Al Khaleej newspaper premises, the Information Minister underscored freedom of expression, political openness, respect of human rights and intellectual and cultural pluralism in Bahrain. He took pride in visiting one of the most glorious Bahraini dailies, praising the newspaper's national trend and its role in developing the local press. He also met with the newspaper's Editor-in-Chief Anwar Abdulrahman and exchanged views with him on the main national and journalistic issues. The Information Minister praised awareness of journalists of the local press and their assumption of the professional and moral responsibility in adhering to accuracy, objectivity and credibility as well as promoting tolerance, preserving national security and stability, rejecting foreign interference in Bahrain's internal affairs and ostracising sectarianism and defamatory discourse. He underlined keenness to hold more meetings with the local journalists to discuss with them ways of upgrading the sector and keeping it abreast of the latest professional and technical developments.
