Integrated Reconstruction and Post-Trauma Impact on Communities and Socio-Economic Aspects of Recovery conference kicks off

Manama, Nov. 8 (BNA): The international conference “Integrated Reconstruction and Post-Trauma Impact on Communities and Socio-Economic Aspects of Recovery” kicked off through the Zoom platform today. Organised by the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), the event kick-started with the participation of the centre’s Chairperson Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa. Experts and academics from all over the world also attended alongside representatives of international organisations, including mainly UNESCO, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), the World Bank and the World Monuments Fund. In her inaugural speech, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa underlined the importance of boosting joint efforts to preserve the cultural heritage. She said that over the past years, many Arab countries had undergone regrettable incidents and conflicts that led to the loss of many of their cultural and historical features. She urged joint work by the Arab and international community to handle the negative impact on those historical sites.
