Interior Minister receives Atlantic Council delegation

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, today received a delegation from the US-based Atlantic Council, led by the Former Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs at the US Department of State. Chief of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan, and Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs, Major-General Dr. Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, attended the meeting. The Interior Minister welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of the visit in exchanging views and promoting coordination. He asserted that the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa reinforces democracy and justice, tolerance, coexistence and openness values. He continued that the project promotes a reform and justice approach and supports facing challenges and strengthening national unity. He praised the security cooperation between Bahrain and the United States within the strategic partnership and close ties between the two countries. He valued the council's role in conducting studies and analyses on homeland security and foreign policies to exchange expertise in ensuring the advancement of strategic thinking. The meeting also discussed security issues of common interest and the latest regional developments.
