Interior Minister receives British official

Manama, June 20 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received on Monday Senior UK Advisor of Middle East Affairs Gen. Tom Beckett, in the presence of Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan and Interior Ministry Undersecretary Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa. The Interior Minister hailed the visit of Gen. Tom Beckett and his accompanying delegation, lauding strong and deep-rooted relations between Bahrain and the UK. He underlined both country’s keenness to further boost coordination and cooperation mainly in the security field, especially with the celebration of the 200 anniversary of historical ties between the two friendly countries. The Interior Minister briefed Gen. Tom Beckett on the efforts of the Interior Ministry to upgrade the security sectors, maintain order and ensure people’s safety. He said that the Interior Ministry’s approach is based on protecting national achievements. Both sides also discussed bilateral relations and topics of common interest. (MOI)
