Interior Minister visits Customs Affairs

Manama, June 14 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa visited the Customs Affairs today where he was received by Customs President Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa and a number of General Directors and Directors of the Customs Affairs.
The Interior Minister congratulated Shaikh Ahmed for the royal trust in appointing him as Customs President, wishing him all the best in serving the citizens and the nation. The Customs President expressed pride in the royal trust and thanks and appreciation to the Interior Ministry for his wise directives to enhance work performance.
The Interior Minister also hailed the efforts of the Customs Affairs personnel, calling for honesty and sincerity in performing duties that put security as top priority. He stressed the importance to keep up the high level of customs procedures at all ports and exits. He said that the department represents the country’s gateway that is protected by a new customs inspection system.
The Customs President lauded the visit of the Interior Minister, commending the endless support of the wise leadership to the Customs Affairs, the care of the Interior Minister and the dedication of its personnel to protect the society from banned and restricted materials and back economic development. He noted that in line with the directives of the Interior Minister, a full assessment of procedures, services, human resources and preparations will be carried out in the next phase in comparison with successful experience in the East and West. He added that a comprehensive strategy is under planning and it is expected to be launched as part of the celebrations of the Bahrain Police Day and National Day at the end of 2016.
The Interior Minister watched a visual presentation on the history of customs and the efforts to develop customs services. (MOI)
