International Conference of "Friends of Syria" ends

TUNIS (A.A) - The International Conference of "Friends of Syria" group ended in Tunisian capital of Tunis with a final declaration on Friday. The declaration underlined the importance of territorial integrity, sovereignty, national unity and independence of Syria. Violence against civilians and human rights violations by Syrian regime have been condemned in the declaration. The declaration said that "Friends of Syria" group supported Arab League's proposal on a peaceful solution to the issue, stating that violence must be ended, prisoners must be released and peaceful demonstrations should be allowed in the country. "Friends of Syria" would keep putting pressure on Syrian regime with political, economic and diplomatic sanctions to bring an end to violence in Syria, it said. The final declaration also said that Syrian National Council was accepted as a legitimate representative of the Syrian people. (Reporting by Mustafa Keles) (EÖ)
