International conference opens in Bahrain

Manama, Oct.6 (BNA): The second international conference for excellence in social work opened in Bahrain, under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan. The three-day event is being organised by the Bahrain Voluntary Work Society, in cooperation with cooperation with Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Award for Social Excellence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The opening ceremony was attended by Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Award for Social Excellence board member, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Fahd bin Saud Al-Kabeer, HRH Prince Salman bin Mohammed bin Faisal Al-Saud, secretary-general Dr. Fahd bin Hamad Al-Maghlouth, Bahrain Voluntary Work Society chairman Abdulaziz Rashid Al-Sindi, in addition to NGOs from Bahrain, GCC countries, Arab and European countries. The 2019 edition is being attended by 120 researchers and specialists known for their wealth on knowledge in the field of voluntary social work in Bahrain and other countries. Addressing the opening ceremony, Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development Khalid Abdulrahman Ishaq Al-Kooheji stressed the importance of voluntary work in social development. He commended the Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Award for Social Excellence for sponsoring the second international conference for excellence in social work. Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan also stressed the importance of assessing the impact of voluntary work on society and development.
