International Kite Festival in Satun
SATUN, March 4 (TNA) -- The International Kite Festival 2017 in the southern province of Satun kicked off last night, where kites flyers from 34 countries have gathered to compete for the royal-sponsored cup and visitors can participate in various vivid and active activities.
Chief of the Provincial Administrative Organisation of Satun Samrid Liangprasit was inviting the public from around the country to join the 37th International Kite Festival or Satun International Kite Festival 2017 at the province's temporary airport in Klong Kud subdistrict of the provincial seat.
He said that Satun Governor Pattaraphon Rattanapichetthachai had presided over the official opening ceremony of the event last night, where participants had also taken part in a parade of the royally-sponsored cup from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
Kite flyers from 34 countries are competing in the competition which will last until March 5.
Apart from witnessing the beauty of various types, shapes, and sizes of kites, visitors would also get the chance to watch a giant kite flying contest, the kite colouring competition for elementary school students, the making of Thai-style kites, and enjoying shopping at product booths from 14 provinces, along with be entertained by cultural performances and enjoy food tasting at the Siam-Andaman Food Fair.
