Iran’s “Shekarestan” to go on screen at Indian festival
TEHRAN,Dec.31(MNA) -- One episode of the acclaimed Iranian animation series on Persian proverbs “Shekarestan” will compete at the Bangalore International Chidren's Film Festival (BICFF).
The episode “Day-Dreamer and Oil Jar” from the 90-episode series will go on screen at the festival which will be held from January 9 to 15.
Babak Nazari, who received several awards from Iranian festivals for this series, has directed 90 parts of this 15-minute series. The animation was produced by Tehran’s Art Bureau.
The episode narrates the story of a dreamer who travelled to China to trade oil, however he became engaged in his dreams during his deals which caused problems for him.
Shekarestan features stories inspired by ancient Persian proverbs and anecdotes. This is the third international appearance of the series after Italy and China.
“More than 40 films are to be screened at the festival. Many Indian language films will find a place along with films from countries such as Italy, Bangladesh, United States, United Kingdom, Columbia, Iran, China and Seri Lanka among others,” President of the festival Nanjunde Gowda said in a press release.
There is a good response in terms of audience size to children’s film festivals in the city. Several people attended the film screening along with their children in the previous editions, he said.
