Iran President Stresses Need For Careful Investigation Into Train Accident

Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a message released on Sunday expressed sympathy with the families of victims of the train derailment, urging careful investigation into the incident. In his message, the President underlined the need to prevent such sad events. Four were killed and 36 wounded as a train derailed in central Iranian province of Yazd Friday evening. According to a local official, the train was traveling from Zahedan in southeastern country to the capital, Tehran, when it derailed while entering a station at 23:50 local time (2020 GMT) Friday. A provincial official told IRNA the engine and two wagons derailed, killing three of the organization’s staff and a female passenger. He said the train was carrying 324 passengers./end
