Iran publishes book about son of Italian industrialist Fiat patriarch
TEHRAN,Dec.25 (MNA) -- Iranian author Mostafa Ghaffari Saravi published a biography of the life of the son of the Italian industrialist patriarch of Fiat, Edoardo Agnelli (1954-2000), who had converted to Islam.
Entitled “Gift of the Messiah”, the book has been published by the Islamic Revolution Documentary Center.
Edoardo despised his father’s business interests and capitalism. After studying at Atlantic College, he read literature and philosophy at Princeton University. He was later reported to have converted to Islam. He spent much time in Africa and India, pursuing his interest in spirituality and also helping the poor.
The book narrates how he left all the power and wealth of his father, Gianni Agnelli, then chose Islam, and was later killed for his beliefs. The deceased former Iranian MP Fakhreddin Hejazi had called him the gift of the Messiah to Prophet Muhammad (S).
In November 2000, the 46-year-old Agnelli’s body was found near Turin. The death was considered by Italian investigators to have been a suicide. But Muslim countries, including Iran, believe that Edoardo is a martyr killed by the Zionists.
