Iran ready to help staff members aiming to stop working for “Iran International”

London, Nov 3, IRNA – Iranian Embassy in London has signaled readiness to provide support for staff members of “Iran International” who aim to stop working for this UK-based TV channel. Ambassador Hamid Baeedinejad said in his official twitter account on Saturday that some of the staff members of the UK-based Persian-language TV channels, Iran International in particular, have contacted the Iranian Embassy in UK expressing concern about threats by their employers for cutting cooperation. The embassy has employed a well experienced lawyer to give legal advice to these people, Baeedinejad said. After Iran International broadcast an interview by an extremist separatist group who appreciated a terrorist attack on Sept. 22 in southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz, the Iranian ambassador in London lodged a lawsuit with Afcom and said the act by Iran International was a blatant violation of law and a clear sign of support for terrorism. The British daily The Guardian has published a series of articles which disclosed financial support from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman for Iran International TV. The Guardian said last week that Riyadh has spent $250 million for launching Iran International TV which has no incomes out of commercial breaks.
