Iranian culture minister attends ISESCO meeting in Algeria

TEHRAN,Dec.19(MNA) -- Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini traveled Algeria to attend the Seventh Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers. He will give a lecture during the conference which is being held by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) from December 18 to 20 in Algiers. He was welcomed by the Algerian minister of culture Khalida Toumi and Iran’s ambassador to Algeria Mahmud Mohammadi at the Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers. Algiers’ Conference of Culture Ministers is on the theme of “Towards Consolidating the Outcome of the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures and Enhancing Youth’s Role in Building a Culture of Peace and Dialogue”. The conference is a part of the celebration of Tlemcen as the capital of Islamic culture for 2011. The Organization of the Islamic Conference General Secretariat and Algeria’s Culture Ministry cosponsored the conference. Tlemcen’s centuries rich in history and culture have made the city a center for a unique blend of music and art. Its textiles and handcrafts, its elegant blend of Islamic, Berber, Andalusian and French cultures, and its cool climate in the mountains have made it an important center of tourism in Algeria.
