Iranian foreign minister says Iran, Turkey can restore peace in region

TEHRAN (A.A) - Iranian foreign minister said on Friday that Iran and Turkey could restore peace, security and stability in their region in cooperation and solidarity.
Ali Akbar Salehi defined Turkey and Iran as two important and influential countries in the region.
"There are Islamic awakening on the axis of people's demonstrations in the region, and these developments are important for both Iran and Turkey," Salehi told a joint press conference with Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Tehran.
Salehi said Turkey and Iran had a common perspective on regional developments, and the two countries were supporting demonstration in all countries.
Iran's Foreign Minister Salehi defined Davutoglu's visit as fruitful, and said they were making progress in every meeting.
Salehi also said he would visit Turkey soon to boost relations and cooperation.

Turkey's foreign minister said early on Friday that Turkey was ready to support every peaceful step.
Ahmet Davutoglu said the region was experiencing a historic era and developments that would shape up the upcoming century were occurring in the region.
"We believe that everybody should be in an effort to reduce tension and create a common atmosphere of peace in the region in such a period," Davutoglu told a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran.
Davutoglu underlined importance of consultations between Turkey and Iran in such a period, and said Turkey would do everything it could to contribute to the process.
"We hope our region will be stronger, more stable and universal after this regional awakening," Davutoglu said.
On Iran's nuclear program, Davutoglu said that Turkey had assumed a role in nuclear negotiations between Iran and P5+1 countries and tried to contribute to the process.
Davutoglu said Turkey welcomed the wish of the two parties to resume negotiations, as well as mutual steps of Iran and P5+1.
"We hope negotiations will result in a way that can satisfy both parties. Turkey is ready to contribute to this process either by hosting talks or ensuring mutual atmosphere of confidence," Davutoglu said.
Davutoglu said Turkey was ready to support every peaceful step particularly in nuclear issue.
"We hope that nuclear negotiations will bear result, and thus, sanctions on Iran and tension will be over," he said.
Davutoglu expressed hope that everybody would work on alternative dates for upcoming talks and parties would meet in the possible soonest time.
Foreign Minister Davutoglu said NATO missile defense system and radar were for defense purposes, and Turkey would never tolerate use of any system in its territories against its neighbors.
"Therefore, no neighboring country or no country were mentioned as a threat or target in NATO documents," Davutoglu said.
Davutoglu said Turkey had not perceived any threat from its neighbors, and would not let anybody to pose a threat for its neighbors from its territories.
The minister also said Turkey had confidence in Iran, and expected Iran to trust Turkey.
