Iranian short films praised at London festival

TEHRAN,Dec.1 (MNA) -- Two Iranian short films have been honored at the 7th London Kurdish Film Festival (LKFF). “Pomegranate Is the Fruit of Paradise” directed by Teymur Qaderi won the first prize of the 3rd Yilmaz Güney Short Film Competition of the LKFF. The film is about Shadi, whose parents do not allow her go to school, but her friend Saeid decides he will try to teach her himself. Jalal Saedpanah was awarded the Jury Special Prize for his “The Sound of Rain”, about a bird, boy and cage maker living alone. The Turkish film “Five Stones” by Kenan Tekes and Riza Barut received the second prize and the Iraqi film “Land of the Heroes” by Sahim Omar Kalifa won the third prize. “The Sunset of a Snail” by Azad Mohammadi, Shadow’s Peace Time” by Osman Mohammadi, “Maryam’s Flowers” by Ruhollah Akbari, “Banquet under the Water” by Babak Amini, and “4441st Day of My Life” by Nazir Mirzaii were other Iranian films screened in the section.
