Islamic Figures: Saudi Arabia’s decision on Hajj embodies government’s concern for pilgrims’ health, safety

Riyadh, June 16, 2021, SPA -- More than 278 Islamic figures from 50 countries have described the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s measures on Hajj rituals for the year 1442 AH as an embodiment of the government’s concern for the health and safety of pilgrims, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Muftis, scholars and heads of universities, Islamic associations and centers, in cables and statements sent to the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, have expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s decision on limiting Hajj to citizens and residents inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only, as the total number of pilgrims is 60,000 pilgrims. They affirmed that all the measures and decisions being taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represent the wisdom of its leadership and its vast experience in organizing hajj affairs, adding that the decision accords with Sharia teachings on preserving mankind from this pandemic. They also praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in serving the pilgrims, whereas Saudi Arabia exerts all efforts to provide them with all means of comfort. They extended thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH Crown Prince for their care for everything that serves Islam and Muslims around the world. --SPA
