Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepares criminal charges against former chief of general staff

ANKARA (A.A) - The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared the criminal charges against former chief of general staff Ret. Gen. Ilker Basbug on Thursday. The criminal charges on Basbug were sent to the Istanbul 13th Criminal Court so that the Basbug case gets attached to the case on "Action Plan Against Reactionary Forces". Ilker Basbug faces charges of leading an organization and attempting to abolish the Republic of Turkey by using force. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office demands that Basbug is given a sentence of life in prison. Ilker Basbug was appointed as the Chief of General Staff in 2008. He retired in August 2010.
