Jaffari Endowments praises King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue, Peaceful Coexistence launch

Manama, Nov. 11 (BNA): Chairman of the Jaffari Endowments Council, Shaikh Mohsen Al-Asfoor, has lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s “pioneering” initiative to launch the “King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence” in the prestigious Rome-based Sapienza University, which is among the oldest European university as it was established in 1303.   Al-Asfoor stressed that the royal initiative is a key step aimed consolidating the principle of interfaith dialogue, as well as at extending bridges of communication and promoting co-existence among all sects and religions.   The move reflects HM the King’s forward-looking vision of fostering the values of tolerance, co-existence and peace, as well as to combat terrorism and extremism and  strengthening the kingdom’s long-standing status and role in spreading the values of peaceful co-existence and acceptance of the other, in addition to constant endeavours to extend bridges of communication and consolidate dialogue among various cultures and religions, he said.   Asfoor affirmed that the royal initiative, aimed at consolidating the global co-existence and peace efforts, adds to kingdom’s record which is laden with landmark achievements in the political, economic and urban fields, and embodies the leadership’s wisdom and sound approach.   Shaikh Mohsen Al-Asfoor extended deepest congratulations to HM the King on the occasion, stressing that Bahrain, under the leadership of HM King Hamad, has always embodied the values of peaceful co-existence and moderation, the same values that have always characterised the Bahraini people and made the kingdom a world leader in promoting them.   He paid tribute the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence, the Education Ministry and the Higher Education Council for their efforts that contributed to the inauguration of the “King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence” in Rome in the presence of high-profile UN and Academic personalities, noting that the move adds to Bahrain’s previous efforts to boost inter-faith dialogue, citing the multiple conferences hosted by the kingdom in this regard since 2002.   He also underlined the Jaffari Endowments Directorate’s constant support for the initiatives launched by the kingdom, under the leadership of HM King Hamad, through bilingual publications, artistic exhibitions and participation in various international events organised by “This Is Bahrain” in which it highlighted Bahrain’s status as an oasis of tolerance and peace among all social segments.
