Japan To Help Indonesia Develop Efficient Logistics System
Tokyo, Oct 9 (ANTARA) - Japan will assist Indonesia in developing an efficient logistics and distribution system through training programs, according to a Japanese minister.
"Both countries have agreed to hold regular talks relating to logistics and distribution policies," Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yukio Edano said at the 4th Indonesia-Japan Joint Economic Forum (IJ-JEF), held here on Monday.
"We also have agreed to implement training programs for Indonesian government officers and businessmen engaged in the distribution and logistics sector," he added.
At the meeting, the Indonesian government was represented by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Muhammad Lutfi, and a number of officials from different ministries.
Edano said, both sides agreed to improve regulations relating to distribution and logistics.
"Both sides have agreed on the need for the two countries to focus on the master plan for ASEAN Connectivity by establishing close cooperation with the private sector," he added.
Meanwhile, Hatta said Indonesia pledged to improve regulations relating to its logistics and distribution system.
"We realize that the logistics and distribution system is a key factor in the business world, so it is time for us to have efficient logistics system," he stated.
Hatta also expressed hope that Japan would increase its investment in Indonesia.
Bilateral trade between Indonesia and Japan reached US$32.50 billion in January-July 2012, up 6.35 percent from the same period last year.
