Japan keen to strengthen ties with India

New Delhi, Jun 27 (PTI) An all-party delegation from Japan today met Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu here andexpressed hope to strengthen bilateral ties with India. "The decisive mandate Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got will help in giving momentum to Indian economic development. Modi's victory has got global attention," head of the delegation Ichiro Aiswa said at the meeting. The Japanese delegation comprised six MPs from political parties including Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party of Japan, People's Life Party and Japan Restructure Party. Aiswa said Japan was keen to scale up the already existing strong ties between the two countries. He mentioned the role of Japan in assisting India in various sectors including development of Metro projects. He stressed that Japanese government and companies are keen to associate themselves with various new initiatives in areas of urban development. Welcoming the delegation, Naidu said Indians greatly value cooperation with Japan and like to benefit from experience brought by Japan in development in urban areas besides disaster management. Naidu also exchanged views on functioning of Parliaments of both countries including the system of various parliamentary committees. Later in the day, Singapore High Commissioner Lim Thuan Kuan also met Naidu and expressed his country's keenness to cooperate in urban development projects and skill development here. "India is like a fast train and everybody wants to get into that," Kuan said. PTI
