Jeenbekov acquaints with measures on country’s railway industry development

Bishkek, June 17, 2020. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov held on Wednesday a working meeting on the development of the country's railway industry, his press service reported.
Acting Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov, acting Minister of Transport and Roads Janat Beishenov and Director General of the Kyrgyz Temir Jolu (Kyrgyz Railways) National Company State Enterprise Vasily Dashkov took part in the meeting.
The meeting provided information on the progress of the railway projects, in particular, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project was discussed.
President Jeenbekov noted the importance of developing transit and domestic railways throughout the country in order to strengthen the transport independence of the republic and diversify the transport cargo and passenger flow.
He emphasized that one of the largest and strategic projects in the transport sector is the beginning of construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
Director General of the Kyrgyz Temir Jolu (Kyrgyz Railways) National Company State Enterprise Vasily Dashkov presented information on the progress of digitalization of the company's activities to minimize corruption risks.
He informed that the software for accounting of the electronic waybill has been developed, electronic interchange between information systems of the Kyrgyz, Kazakh railways has been organized.
Besides, the mechanism of informing the tax authorities about the arrival of cargoes from the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) member states in real time through the Tunduk system of interagency e-interaction has been implemented, as well as the possibility of payment for railway services through the website and payment systems has been introduced.
The new railway is the shortest route from China to Europe and the Middle East. Compared to the existing routes, the distance will be reduced by 900 km, the time of delivery of goods by 7-8 days. Experts estimate that transportation of at least 5 million tons of cargo per year can fully cover the cost of road construction.
The prospects of this project are demonstrated by the already well-established "Kashgar-Irkeshtam-Osh-Andijan-Tashkent" autocorridor, which for the first time allowed Central Asian road carriers to enter China directly.
