Jeenbekov: Assistance to citizens with disabilities will always be one of priorities of state policy

Bishkek, Dec.3, 2019. /Kabar/. Today, Dec.3 Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov sent an appeal in connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
"Dear compatriots!
Today, together with the international community, we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The state strives to support citizens with disabilities, to create the necessary conditions for their education, life, work, realization of talent and to ensure the protection of their rights, social rehabilitation and effective integration into public life.
I express my deep gratitude to the parents and employees of social institutions who care for children with disabilities, train and work tirelessly to create favorable conditions for their spiritual development.
Care and assistance to citizens with disabilities will always be one of the priorities of state policy.
This year, Kyrgyzstan has ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
We must not forget that caring for and providing comprehensive assistance to those in need is a common task for both state bodies and our society as a whole.
I wish health, strong will, and a prosperous life to my compatriots, who bravely overcome the difficulties of life, look ahead with optimism, lead full life and work,” the President’s message reads.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been observed with varying degrees of success around the planet.
The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. It was originally called "International Day of Disabled Persons" until 2007. Each year the day focuses on a different issue.
