Jeenbekov: Tokayev’s state visit will have strong impact on further development of bilateral relations

Kazakhstan is our reliable partner and closest good neighbor, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov told following talks with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who is on a state visit to Kyrgyzstan. Sooronbayi Jeenbekov thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his visit to Kyrgyzstan. “I’m sure that your visit will have a strong influence on the further development of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations,” he said. The head of Kyrgyzstan said that today with Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev they discussed priority areas of bilateral relations. “We also held comprehensive and effective negotiations covering a wide range of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations. They were held in the spirit of mutual trust and understanding. In addition, we discussed the issue of further development and deepening of allied relations and strategic partnership between our countries,” the president added. He also added that as part of this visit, a meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council was held, which has not been held for the past five years. “We examined issues of interaction in the trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, water and energy and transport sectors. We also agreed to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in other areas. Particular attention was paid to the issues of cultural cooperation between the two fraternal countries, having a common history, language, religion and traditions. We agreed that in this area it is necessary to actively develop cooperation. We discussed issues of interaction within the Eurasian Economic Union. An exchange of views took place on pressing regional and international issues. We noted joint actions in the format of multilateral cooperation,” he added. Jeenbekov noted with satisfaction the increase in the volume of mutual trade between countries. “Compared to the last year, this year this indicator increased by 10.5 percent. The number of Kyrgyz-Kazakh joint ventures increased to 1900, and this circumstance can serve as the basis for achieving new successes in the economy,” he said.
