Job seekers Finding It Difficult To Get Relevant Information
Surabaya, East Java, Nov 12 (Antara) - More than 66,000 new university graduates in Indonesia are having difficulty obtaining information related to job vacancies at various companies in the country, an official has said.
Ariadi Anaya, the managing director of Asia`s leading job portal, JobsDB Indonesia, said on Monday that most job seekers had continued to use traditional methods of finding information on job vacancies, such as from advertisements in print media and job fairs.
"In reality, the traditional way of finding jobs is very limited and less effective. But in this digital era, job seekers can utilize internet access to find a job," Ariadi said while presenting the job seeking program, entitled "The Passport" in cooperation with PT Telekomsel.
He added that the number of new university graduates every year had reached around 250,000, but not all of them had been accommodated in existing companies in the country.
Consequently, he noted that coupled with high school graduates who could not continue their studies, the number of jobless was becoming higher every year.
Ariadi also said that a research conducted by JobsDB in seven Asian countries including Indonesia had showed that 82 percent of job seekers were currently utilizing internet access to get information about job vacancies.
He noted that JobsDB was the top online recruitment website in the Asia Pacific region, with more than 140,000 jobs posted worldwide.
"As the most used recruitment media among job seekers in Indonesia, JobsDB Indonesia has established cooperation with nearly 5,000 small and big companies to facilitate job seekers," he said.
According to him, the JobsDB portal also provided information on internships, scholarships and professional and career development tips.
Ariadi said that the collaboration with PT Telekomsel was aimed at easing job seekers` access to job vacancies and providing information on internships available at various companies in Indonesia.
