Justice Ministry Launches Qatar Legal Portal

Doha, December 04 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim said the Al-Mizan (Scale) portal of the Ministry of Justice is a sophisticated website which differs from the previous sites and experiences, adding that it enjoys flexibility and user-friendliness for researchers as well as easy access to any law or amendment thereto. HE Al-Gahnim announced that talks are under way between the State of Qatar and the Library of Congress for the transfer of the Global Legal Information Network (GLIN) to the State of Qatar, noting that its executive office and 38 members looked into many options for hosting the network and found that the State of Qatar is one of the strongest candidates for that. This came in a speech HE the Minister of Justice gave on the sidelines of the Ministry of Justice's inauguration ceremony of the Qatari Legal Portal Al Mizan as the first official comprehensive portal for the publication of all laws and legislations of the State of Qatar since 1961 as well as rules passed by supreme courts and the principles of fatwa (legal opinion) and other jurisprudential information. The portal also aims to implement the policy of open access to the public, increasing government organs' transparency, indexing and publishing of all legal information in the state and making them available to a large category of citizens and residents, government institutions and foreign investors inside Qatar and abroad through a one online portal. The Minister of Justice in his speech stressed that since the issuance of the Permanent Constitution of the State of Qatar, achievements were accomplished and ambitions were fulfilled on various social, economic, religious, political, scientific and cultural levels, explaining the role of the Ministry of Justice in achieving a new legal leap and lay foundations of right to empower the state of law. He said the effort for launching the portal, made through a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Council for Communications and Information Technology (ictQatar) has achieved a new accomplishment in the world of legal informatics through the establishment of the electronic portal, which contained the basic legislations of the State of Qatar, rules passed by the supreme courts, principles of Fatwa and disciplinary accountability and other jurisprudencial information.(QNA)
