Kaamatan Festival Best Platform To Foster Unity - Minister

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah,Malaysia), May 21 (Bernama) -- The traditional annual harvest festival of the Kadazandusun Murut community, the Kaamatan Festival, is the best platform to foster unity among the people in line with the concept of 1Malaysia. United Pasok Momogun Kadazandusun Organisation (UPKO) president, Bernard Dompok said the festival, which also received wide media coverage, including overseas, was seen as capable of boosting the economy, especially through the tourism industry, which was among the biggest contributors to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). "The harmonious Kaamatan Festival celebration is a catalyst to foster unity among the multi-racial people in the country, especially in Sabah," he told reporters at UPKO Tadau Kaamatan Open House 2012 at Tanjung Aru multi-purpose hall, here on Sunday. Dompok, who is also Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, also called on the people to be grateful for the development and advancement introduced by Prime Minister Najib Razak through various transformation programmes and not to fall for the baseless allegation and lies spread by the opposition.
