Kazakh cartoonist wins top prize at Iranian festival

TEHRAN,Nov. 27(MNA) -- Kazakh cartoonist Galim Baev won first prize of the 2nd International Cartoon Festival of Retrofitting. Baev also received a $1500 cash prize and the plaque of honor from the festival. Iranian cartoonists Mehdi Azizi and Nasser Moqaddam won second and third prizes. In addition, 27 cartoonists from Iran, Poland, Romania, Croatia, America, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Ukraine, Russia and Cuba received honorable mention. The festival, which was cosponsored by the Housing Foundation and the Iranian National Retrofitting Center, was held with the theme of rural housing in Tabriz. The third edition of the festival will be held in 2013.
