KeTTHA Receives Platinum Level of Green Computing Facility Certification

PUTRAJAYA, June 21 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water's (KeTTHA) Green Data Centre (GDC) has been awarded with the Platinum level of Certified Green Computing Facility. The award given by Green Computing Initiative, an accreditation and international certification body on green computer technology is a major recognition for the GDC on its uniform and effective practices. The evaluation for the certification include the environment, energy management, air, cooling, power chain, IT equipment and lighting. Regional director and deputy president of World Green Computing Initiative, Matthew Rajendra said the recipient, however, needed to demonstrate at all times a determination to reduce the IT carbon trail and efficient energy use. "For instance, KeTTHA has successfully reduced the centre's carbon trail by about 55 per cent and energy use some 60 per cent. "This is a big achievement and an important contribution to Prime Minister Najib Razak Razak's commitment to green technology development and the reduction of our country's carbon trail," he said at KeTTHA's monthly assembly here Thursday. At the event, Rajendra presented the Platinum Award plaque to Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Peter Chin Fah Kui. -- BERNAMA
