Khalid bin Hamad's initiatives boost humanitarian, social sectors

Manama, July 26 (BNA): The 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League, held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honorary President of Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, was on Wednesday attended by several guests, who were keen to watch its matches, especially those involving disabled people. The 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Affairs in partnership with the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, from June 34 to August 9. The league is part of HH Shaikh Khalid’s initiatives in support of youth in sports and humanitarian fields, held this year with the wide participation of youth centres, national clubs, young women, disabled individuals, ministries and communities. Proud of Khalid bin Hamad's initiatives Among those present on Wednesday was Dr Mohammed Al Ansari, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, who said: "We are very proud of the initiatives launched by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, which are dedicated to the youth and sports sector in the Kingdom as well as the disabled people. We are determined to support HH's initiatives which pave the way for disabled people to integrate properly into society." Pioneering Initiatives Dr Sawsan Taqawi branded holding a disabled league as part of the 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League as a unique gesture extended by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to provide people with special needs with an opportunity to showcase their talent, which is an added benefit for the sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She added that holding such an event for disabled people serves an important segment of Bahrain's society, confirming that this initiative has many benefits, most notably supporting and encouraging young people to practise sports as a lifestyle. Dr Tawaqi expressed her appreciation to the High Organising Committee and everyone involved in organising the league for their tremendous efforts to present it in a unique way. Cerebral Palsy see off Al Muhafizeen Cerebral Palsy team beat Al Muhafizeen team 7-2 in Group 2 of the 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League, held at Khalifa Sports City on Wednesday. Abdulrahman Mosameh of Cerebral Palsy displayed a fine performance during the match to win the best player of the match. Another heavy result emerged on Wednesday in the disabled league as Deaf Committee showered Disability thrashed Friendship Society 16-1 in Group 1, largely thanks to Akbar Salman who found the net six times. Salman's goals won him the best player of the match award too. Special Olympics team thrashed Challenging Disability team 12-2 in Group 1 too. Mousa Al Qaydoom contributed five goals for the winners en route to be named the best man of the match. Meanwhile, Motor Disability team made to sweat to overcome Bahraini Deaf Society, defeating them 6-4.
