King's message welcomed by global peaceful co-existence centre

Manama, May 3 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s welcome of cooperation between the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence and various local and international media institutions has been lauded by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the centre, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. In a statement, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa said that HM the King’s message marking the World Press Freedom Day proves the royal far-sighted vision regarding the key role of the media and the Press in supporting nations’ progress, and unifying their stances under the umbrella of peace and humanity, especially in light of the state fragmentation many peoples are going through because of conflicts and lack of hope. He stressed that the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence is seeking to develop practical mechanisms and strategies which the media and the press will play a crucial role in implementing them. Shaikh Khalid affirmed that spreading awareness and eradicating ignorance top the goals of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence, noting that the centre’s objectives emanate from HM King Hamad’s various speeches in Bahrain and abroad. In order to achieve its goals, the centre has to exert strenuous efforts in cooperation and partnership with various press, media and news institutions in order to draw a clear method to reach various segments and peoples, as well as with intellectual, scientific, religious and social centres, being basic for cultural development and intellectual immunisation of individuals and societies, he said. Dr. Shaikh Khalid added that cooperation with media institutions represents a priority within the centre’s goals to achieve its mission, praising the great support shown by press and media for the centre’s awareness-raising and enlightening efforts. In this regard, the highlighted the wide-ranging acclaim and praise gained by the centre ever since it was first announced in September last year. The centre’s board of trustees chairman welcomed cooperation and partnership with various media establishments in Bahrain and abroad, stressing the importance of developing media messages that contribute to promoting the culture of peace, rejecting all forms of hatred, extremism and violence and unifying human visions through determining the priorities and preparing an action programme within feasible time frame for implementing it. He also called for ensuring the success of cooperation with various state departments.
