Kitchen Musical Score Triple Win At 2012 New York Festival's International TV & Film Awards

By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah SINGAPORE, April 19 (Bernama) -- Genre-busting TV Series The Kitchen Musical won the Gold World Medal for “Best Writing” and Bronze World Medal for “Best Performance” categories at the prestigious 2012 New York Festival's International Television & Film Awards. The Kitchen Musical, a Singapore production by The Group Entertainment was chosen amongst entries from 40 countries worldwide. Trophies were presented at the 2012 New York Festival's International Television & Film Awards Ceremony on Apr 17, at the annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, attended by more than 90,000 media and entertainment professionals from over 150 countries. In its 55th year, the New York Festival shines the spotlight on the World’s Best Television & Films by honouring the “World’s Best Work” in news, sports, documentary, information and entertainment programmes which mirror today’s global trends and encourage the next generation of story-tellers, and is judged by award winning directors, producers, writers, actors and various other creative media professionals from across the globe. CheeK, creator of The Kitchen Musical, and the Head of Creative for The Group Entertainment, who attended the red-carpet event said: “We are thrilled and truly honoured to be recognised with these prestigious awards by a panel of recognised industry experts at The New York Festival. Adding to its well-affirmed achievements, The Kitchen Musical also emerged as an intermedia-globe Gold Award winner at the 2012 World Media Festival, a global competition for modern media that honours and celebrates excellent solutions in Corporate Film, Television, Web and Print productions on an international scale. An original production by The Group Entertainment, The Kitchen Musical is a genre-busting TV series featuring drama, music and food served in 13 one-hour episodes. It is a story about a rich, young girl, fresh out of culinary school who embarks on a journey of self-discovery when she starts working for The Avilon, her father’s restaurant. It was aired in 17 countries across Asia in October 2011 via AXN, nTV7 in Malaysia, Metro TV in Indonesia and ABS CBN’s Studio 23 in the Philippines while local versions of the series are currently in the works for Italy, India and Vietnam. The series features a pool of international talent including British thespian Stephen Rahman-Hughes, Filipino powerhouses Karylle Tatlonghari and Christian Bautista, Hong Kong actress-supermodel Rosemary Vandenbroucke and New York based Filipino stage actor, Arthur Acuña.
