Knowledge without Borders prepares to participate in Sharjah Children's Reading Festival

Knowledge without Borders, KWB, is preparing to participate in the 6th Sharjah Children's Reading Festival which will take place at Sharjah Expo Centre from 15th-25th April.
During its participation, KWB will organise an array of cultural and entertainment activities as well as competitions which will highlight its achievements in promoting the culture of reading in the UAE community. It will also purchase around 20,000 children books from 50 local and Arab participating publishers. These books will be distributed to national families in Al Dhaid city in Sharjah, as part of the second distribution phase in the city which will continue in this year and the next, covering 4500 beneficiaries in Al Dhaid, its villages and the surrounding areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Rashid Al Kous, General Manager of KWB, said, "Through participating in the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, KWB seeks to encourage children and parents to read and benefit from the home libraries in their houses and to introduce the project's initiatives and activities which cover all segments of society." He added, "As this year's edition of the festival coincides with the Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital celebrations, the stand's design is inspired by the theme of the celebrations to highlight Sharjah's cultural leadership and prominent presence in Islamic world." He clarified, "The festival is an opportunity to encourage children to read and familiarise them with the role played by the project in promoting reading through the home libraries, moving libraries and other initiatives that aim to develop people's culture. It serves as a platform to network with publishers and to update them on the criteria required by KWB in its book selection. This will encourage publishers to enhance the quality of their books as a prerequisite to deal with KWB." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
