Krabi beaches ranked among country’s top clean beaches

KRABI, Oct 17 (TNA) – Two beaches in the southern province of Krabi are among 13 beaches in Thailand, ranked top for environmental quality. The Pollution Control Department approved environmental quality evaluation of tourist beaches in 2017 on Aug 8 said Weerasak Srisajjang, head of the Than Bok Khorani National Park in Krabi. Thirteen beaches were given five stars for the best environmental quality. Among all top ranked beaches are Koh Rok beach and Bilae beach in Krabi, he said. Koh Rok beach is located in the Mo Koh Lanta national park. Bilae beach on Koh Hong, which is located in the Than Bok Khorani National Park has been evaluated as the best environmental quality beach for six consecutive years. The Than Bok Khorani National Park has implemented well-rounded environmental management on garbage and toilets. Biological wastewater management had been adopted for 450-metre Bilae beach, said the national park head. Officials take turn to patrol the beach. Boat tour operators have been informed not to leave garbage, particularly Styrofoam containers on the island but they are advised to bring trash back to the shore for proper management. (TNA)
