Kyrgyzstan extends lockdown in some cities and regions. “Given the epidemiological situation, the state of emergency will be extended in the cities of Bishkek, Osh, Jalal-Abad and At-Bashi region of Naryn oblast,” President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said today at a meeting of the Security Council in a narrow composition. The president’s press service said that such a decision was made after reports by First Vice Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov and Minister of Health Sabirzhan Abdikarimov about the current situation. They noted the advisability of extending the state of emergency in the cities of Bishkek, Osh, Jalal-Abad and At-Bashi district until May 10, 2020 inclusive. In the remaining territories where the state of emergency will be lifted, the emergency regime will be maintained. “The government and all state bodies need to continue the implementation of anti-crisis measures recommended by the Security Council,” Jeenbekov emphasized. The Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic in a narrow composition with the participation of the leaders of certain state bodies, the Bishkek mayor, considered the issue of further measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the country and the resumption of socio-economic activity in the republic. Earlier, a state of emergency was introduced in Bishkek, Osh, Jalal-Abad cities, Nookat and Kara-Suu regions of Osh Oblast and Suzak region of Jalal-Abad Oblast on March 25 and extended on April 15, 2020. On the territory of the city of Naryn and At-Bashi region of Naryn Oblast, a state of emergency was introduced on April 15, 2020.
