Kyrgyzstan ratifies Swiss Grant Agreement with IDA

Bishkek, Apr. 21, 2020. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov has signed the Law "On ratification of the Swiss Grant Agreement (Additional Financing for the National Water Resources Management Project) between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association (IDA), signed on Nov. 5 2019 in Bishkek”, his press service said. The Law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) on Apr. 15, 2020. In accordance with the Law, the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan should notify the International Development Association on the implementation of domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of the above agreement. The Law will come into force 10 days after its official publication. The purpose of the this Agreement is to implement measures in the water sector financed within the framework of the initial project, as well as: - strengthening newly established water management structures; - support for measures to improve operation and maintenance of main canals of inter and intra-economic systems. Under the terms of the Agreement, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is provided with a grant of $4,490 million.
