Labour minister meets GFBTU secretariat-general

Manama, Apr. 6 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister, and Board Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, met here a delegation from the Secretariat-General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU), led by Secretary-General, Hassan Abdulla Al-Halwachi. The meeting discussed a number of issues related to labour affairs, most notably the consolidation of the tripartite dialogue among the production parties and pushing it towards advanced levels to serve common interests. It also discussed the proposed mechanisms to enhance the regularity of the tripartite meetings between the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the trade unions, in the light of the results of the recent BCCI’s elections, stressing the importance of cooperation with the representatives of employers to ensure the stability of the labour market. The minister lauded the role played by GFBTU and other trade and labour unions in Bahrain in maintaining the labour gains achieved by the kingdom during the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, affirming the Labour Ministry’s keenness on enhancing constant cooperation and coordination among all parties to serve the issues of work and production and boost joint action. He pointed out that the mutual trust among the three production parties has played a major role in the national action march, and reflected the role of labour unions in improving the work environment, calling for the need to take advantage of such a positive atmosphere to support the comprehensive nation-building and development march currently witnessed by the kingdom. GFBTU Secretary-General, Hassan Abdulla Al-Halwachi, stressed GFBTU’s keenness on consolidating cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to serve the three production parties, lauding the Ministry’s approach and positive dealing with trade unions, as well as constant keenness on intensifying tripartite dialogue to consolidate the labour market’s march in the kingdom, upgrade the work environment and optimise the development gains attained thanks to HM the King’s Reform Project.
